The traditional “Vas Aradhana" for Venerable Monks to observe Vas season (Retreat for Ven. Monks) was held at 6.30 p.m. on Sunday, 1st August, 2015 at The Letchworth Buddhist Temple. This year the ceremonial Vas Arhadhana  (invitation to the Ven. Monks to observe retreat) was carried out by Mr.  Dharmadasa & Dr. Enoka Dedigama, Mr. Prasaj & Mrs. Anusha de Silva, Mr.  Thanuja & Mrs. Charitha Gunaratne,  Dr. Gihan Herath & Family and Mrs. Shamali Kodituwakku & Family.  The invitation was kindly accepted by The Chief incumbent of the Letchworth Temple Ven. Dediyawala Wimala Thero , Ven. Mathugama Palitha Thero and Ven. Sooriyawewa Kusala Thero.

Letchworth Buddhist Temple arranged a special sil day (retreat) for children on Saturday, 27th June 2015 at the temple premises to celebrate Poson Poya. The sil program was guided by resident monk Ven. Sooriyawewa Kusala Thero.,  covering meditation, Dhamma sermons, presenting a video documentary on life of Buddha, Buddha pooja  and invoking blessings to all. A large number of children participated in observing sil.  

The Poson celebration commenced by observing sil (retreat) by devotees on Saturday, 6th June at Letchworth Buddhist Temple. The sil program was guided by the Chief Incumbent Ven. Dediyawala Wimala Thero and Ven Sooriyawewa Kusala Thero.,  covering meditation, Dhamma sermons, presenting a video documentary on Arahat Mihnda Thero’s visit to Sri Lanka, Buddha pooja  and invoking blessings to all. A large turnout of devotees observed sil.  

This year the Vesak celebrations were organized by The Buddhist Community Center Letchworth (BCCL) on 3rd , 9th, 10th and 23rd  May, 2015.  Special Dhamma sermon (Kavi Bana) was  delivered by Rev. Mathugama Palitha Thero. at the temple premises on Sunday  3th,  Vesak Poya Day (full moon day) and a full day Sil Program (Retreat) was held on  Saturday 9th with the guidance of  Ven. Mathugama Palitha Thero, Ven. Sooriyawewa Kusala Thero and Ven. Kattakaduwe Chandawimala Thero.
