The Sri Lankan New Year celebrations organised by the Letchworth Buddhist Community Centre was held at Wilbury Junior School, Letchworth Garden City under the guidance of the Chief Incumbent Venerable. Nahalle Rahula and the resident monk Venerable. Nallure Sangharathana, on Saturday the 17th April 2010.

Many distinguished guests attended including Venerable Pahalagama Somarathana Nayake Thero, the head of the Thames Buddhist Vihara and Sangha Nayake of Great Britain. Mr.P.M.Amza, the Deputy High Commissioner for Sri Lanka, Mrs. Lorna Kercher, Councilor of NHDC accompanied by other councilors, and a large number of well wishers.

The committee of the BCCL worked hard to organise the event and tremendous assistance was given by the members of the Vihara. More than 60 children performed cultural dancing and singing events. The musical programme was conducted by musician Roshan Jayakody, More than 300 people participated in the event having traveled from many parts of the country.
