The Poson celebration was held by Buddhist Cultural Center Letchworth (BCCL) on 22nd and 23rd June, 2013. On Saturday, 22nd June a special retreat (Sill program) was arranged at the temple premises with the guidance of the Chief Incumbent Ven. Dediyawala Wimala Thero and the visiting monk from Glasgow temple Ven. Mathugama Palitha Thero. The days program included meditation, Dhamma sermon, Dhamma discussion, Buddha pooja and invoking blessings to all. There was a large turnout of devotees who observed Sill.
In the afternoon, on 23rd June, 2013 the Poson Celebration was held at the Harward Hall, Norton-Way, Letchworth. The Chief Incumbent Ven. Dediyawala Wimala Thero observed the five precepts followed by the welcome speech by the president of BCCL Mr. Roshan Jayakody. Dhamma sermon was delivered by Ven. Mathugama Palitha Thero. The special feature of the day was the Special Gilampasa Pooja and Pirikara offered by the devotees to Atawisi Buddha. Ven. Mathugama Palitha Thero. administered the Gilampasa pooja, Bodhi Pooja, Seth Pirith and invoking blessings to all. Mr. Roshan Jayakody organized a series of devotional songs (Bhakthi Ghee) sung by adults and children. The day ended with a free food stall (dhansala) sponsored by Mr. Kamal Wijesuriya and his family and friends.
The both events were well attended by Sri Lankans living in The UK and local residence. The Maha Sangha, The BCCL management committee members and the organizers wish to extend their appreciation to all those who attended the event and extending their support for making the events a great success and look forward for their continued support in the future.
