The Vesak celebration was held by Buddhist Cultural Center Letchworth (BCCL) on 5th and 6th May, 2012. A special retreat (Sil program) was arranged at the temple premises with the guidance of the Chief Incumbent Ven. Dediyawala Wimala Thero and the resident monk Ven. Kahaduwe Shanthideva Thero on Saturday 5th May. There was a large turnout of devotees who observed Sill. Ven. Kahaduwe Shanthidewa Thero delivered a Dhamma sermon and conducted the days program including meditation, Buddha Pooja and invoking blessings to all.

In the afternoon, on 6th May, 2012 the Vesak Celebration was held at the Harward Hall, Norton-Way, Letchworth. The Chief Incumbent Ven. Dediyawala Wimala Thero observed the five precepts followed by the Dhamma sermon delivered by Ven. Kahaduwe Shanthideva Thero. at the beginning of the program. Mr. Roshan Jayakody organized a series of devotional songs (Bhakthi Ghee) sung by adults and children. The day ended with a free food stall (dansala)

The both events were well attended by Sri Lankans living in The UK and local residence. The Maha Sangha, The BCCL management committee members and the organizers wish to extend their appreciation for all those who attended the event and extending their support for making the event a great success and look forward for their continued support in the future.
