The Kathina Ceremony 2011 was held by Buddhist Community Center Letchworth (BCCL) on 29th October 2011 at Free Church Hall, Letchworth Garden City. This year Kathina Poojava was sponsored by Dr. Ranjith Welgama, Mrs. Jinanjali Welgama and family with the great support of the management committee and all other devotees of Vihara.

The ceremonial activity commenced at 7.00am by bringing Katina Material to the temple, conducting the morning Pooja and offering the morning alms food to venerable monks. Thereafter, several devotees participated in stiching the Katina robe at Free Church Hall where the ceremony was held. All the devotees and monks joined the Katina Perehera lead by the traditional Sri Lankan Kandian drummers.

The Katina Dhamma Desanava (Sinhala) was conducted by Most Ven.Keppetiyagoda Gunawansa Nayaka Thero, the chief Sanghanaayaka of Great Britain, Sri Lanka Ramanna Maha Nikaya and the head of Jetawana Buddhist Vihara, Birmingham followed by the Administration of five precepts and midday Buddha Poojava conducted by Most Ven.Dediyawala Wimala Maha Thero. This year Katinaanisamsa Dhamma Desanava (English) was delivered by Most Ven.Dr.Witharandeniye Kassapa Nayaka Thero, OBE, the head of West Midland Buddhist Maha Vihara, Birmingham.

The event was well attended by the devotees of the temple. The Maha Snagha of the temple, the committee members of BCCL and the organizers wish to extend their appreciation to all those who attended and extending their support for making this event a great success and look forward for their continued support in the future.
