The Poson celebration was held by Buddhist Cultural Center Letchworth (BCCL) on 2nd and 3rd June, 2012. A special retreat (Sill program) was arranged at the temple premises with the guidance of the Chief Incumbent Ven. Dediyawala Wimala Thero and the resident monk Ven. Kahaduwe Shanthideva Thero. on Saturday 2nd June.
There was a large turnout of devotees who observed Sill. Ven. Kahaduwe Shanthidewa Thero delivered a Dhamma sermon and conducted the days program including meditation, Buddha Pooja and invoking blessings to all. The Buddha Pooja and dhane for Maha Sangha, Upasaka, Upasika was organized by Mr. Ranga Nelson and his family.
In the afternoon, on 3rd June, 2012 the Poson Celebration was held at the Harward Hall, Norton-Way, Letchworth. The Chief Incumbent Ven. Dediyawala Wimala Thero observed the five precepts followed by the welcome speech by the president of BCCL Mr. Roshan Jayakody. A special Dhamma speech was delivered in English by Prof. T.S. Abeywickrma and the Dhamma sermon was delivered by Ven. Kahaduwe Shanthideva Thero. The special feature of the day was the Atavisi Buddha Pooja offered by the devotees and Ven. Kahaduwe Shanthideva Thero. administered the pooja. Mr. Roshan Jayakody organized a series of devotional songs (Bhakthi Ghee) sung by adults and children. The day ended with a free food stall (dansala) sponsored by Mr. Kamal Wijesuriya and his family and friends.
The both events were well attended by Sri Lankans living in The UK and local residence. The Maha Sangha, The BCCL management committee members and the organizers wish to extend their appreciation for all those who attended the event and extending their support for making the events a great success and look forward for their continued support in the future.
