Letchworth Buddhist Temple Celebrated the 67th  Sir Lankan National Independence Day and Nawam Full Moon Poya On Saturday 7th February 2015.

At 9.00a.m the observance of sill by the devotees was conducted by The Chief Incumbent Most Rev. Dediyawala Wimala Thero followed with a meditation session.  Rest of the days’ sill program was carried out by Rev. Sooriyawewa Kusala Thero with a Dhamma sermon in English and reading a Jathaka Chapter.  Rev. Mathugama Palitha Thero Conducted Dhamma discussion and ended the sill program at 4.00 p.m.

The midday Buddha Pooja and the Dhana (lunch) for Rev. Monks was highlighted with the participation Rev.  Dr. Kabalawe Sri Sumana  from Lumbini Viharaya East London and Rev.  Theldeniyaye Amitha Thero from Shanti Viharaya Notingham to participated in Birthday celebration of   Rev.Dediyawala Wimala Thero.

In the evening at 5.00 p.m. a group of children from the Dhamma class accompanied by their parents visited the temple to commemorate the 67th  Sri Lankan  National Independence day celebration. Rev Matugama Palitha Thero and Mr Himantha delivered short speeches based on the history and the significance of being a sovereign nation for all Sri Lankans and sang the National Anthem.  The celebrations ended with the evening Buddha Pooja, chanting of the Seth Pirith.
